The Importance of a 1st Inspection

A
painter is painting a high structure such as a water tower, office building or a bridge. Wind carriers paint spray onto a parking lot where it sticks to vehicle paint, windows, chrome, molding pieces, etc… Vehicle owners complain to their employer’s personnel manager. The painter is informed of his accident. The painter calls his insurance agent, who reports the claim to the casualty carrier. The claim is assigned to a company adjuster, or to an independent adjuster. Up to this point, NO TROUBLE in sight.

Example A

The adjuster arranges an appointment with the personnel manager to conduct an inspection. Adjuster arrives. Personnel manager asks a few employees to accompany him to the parking lot to show their vehicle to the adjuster. TROUBLE IS READY TO DESCEND UPON THE ADJUSTER, in so many forms, but we will illustrate a few.

Chevy ownerMy friend owns a body shop and he said this will clean off.

Adjuster:          Fine. Have it done and send me a bill.

Ford owner:     I get my car washed at a detail shop, and they can probably clean this off.

Adjuster:          Good. Have it done and send me a bill.

Dodge ownerI wash my car every week and I don’t want any buffers used on the paint.

Adjuster:          I can understand that, but it might be pretty easily done. So, why don’t  you stop at a couple of shops and get an opinion. Owner agrees hesitantly.

Cadillac owner:I have already spoken to my dealer and a paint job is necessary. The overspray will not clean off.

Adjuster:          Did they try to clean the overspray?

Cadillac owner:No. They said my paint is too thin for that much buffing.

Adjuster:          Well, let’s just ask them to try and see how it comes out. It can’t do any Harm if we have to paint the vehicle anyhow.

Note: TROUBLE PILES UPON TROUBLE because the vehicle owners are scattered to different repairers with different talents and attitudes toward overspray.

·          The Chevy owner’s friend advises him to try for a paint job like the Cadillac owner.

·          The Ford owner’s car wash declines to be responsible for the repair effort if it fails.

·          The Dodge owner convinces the shops that he will not be happy with a buff job.

·          The Cadillac owner returns with estimates for repainting, for $1900 and $2000, plus, all the windows, chrome, molding pieces and rubber trim has to be replaced.

Note: TROUBLE ARRIVED because the adjuster was a novice and allowed owners to scatter, becoming uncontrollable. It is vital to keep the people controlled, so they can not scatter to various repairers.

Example B

Company adjuster receives assignment and calls: Overspray USA LLC. Overspray USA then arranges to visit the company parking lot, with the adjuster, personnel manager, and a few vehicle owners to discuss our method.

Chevy owner:   My friend owns a body shop, and he said this will clean off.

OversprayUSA:Yes, we know the overspray will polish off by our hand-polishing method, but we cannot risk the methods of your friend. If he harms the finish you would be unhappy because the insurance company could not honor the claim to repaint. We will take care of on-site in a few days.

Ford owner:       I get my car washed at a detail shop, and they can probably clean this off.

OversprayUSA:That is an unnecessary risk. If they failed, repainting would be necessary and we cannot risk that. We will make your entire car look like this sample test spot on the hood.

Dodge owner:    I wash my car every week and don’t want any buffers used on the paint.

Overspray USA:We agree. All of our work is done by hand. We will polish and wax your car without any reduction in  paint thickness. We have a paint thickness gauge to measure your paint before and after the repair, if  you wish.

Cadillac owner:   I have already spoken to my dealer and a paint job is necessary. The overspray will not polish off.

OversprayUSA:That dealer is speaking for his methods only. As you can see by this demonstration, the overspray is easily removed with no difficulty with your vehicle either. etc., etc., etc…

The Results of Example B

·  No one became uncontrollable

·  Other repairers do not have the opportunity to persuade or

    dissuade vehicle owners.

·  The overspray repairs proceed in an orderly manner, on-site,

    without inconveniencing the vehicle owners.

·  Overspray USA handles each claimant on a one-on-one basis.

Note: The point being made is-THE FIRST INSPECTION needs to be made by SOMEONE WITH THE CORRECT ANSWERS ON HOW TO REMOVE OVERSPRAY SUCCESSFULLY, which will keep the people IN CONTROL!
